State Polls Show Obama Surge

·

Although National Polls show Obama's lead shrinking to just 4 points, state polls show Obama surging ahead, especially among independent voters. The latest survey in Indiana, the Big Ten Battleground Poll, gives Obama a 10-point lead over Senator McCain - 51 percent to 41 percent. In Florida the Quinnipiac University poll is giving Obama a 5-point lead in a state that had voted Bush into office by little over 500 points.

The Quinnipiac and Big Ten Battleground state polls show Obama surging to sizable leads in several key states including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin as well.

Obama is taking time off of the campaign trail until Saturday to visit his gravely ill grandmother in Hawaii. But for both candidates the next week and a half will be focused on campaigning in a relatively small number of states, known as swing or battleground states.
